What is TGSPDCL?

TGSPDCL stands for Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (formerly TSSPDCL). It is one of the two electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) in Telangana, responsible for purchasing, distributing, and supplying electricity to consumers across southern Telangana. TGSPDCL was formed after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and is a successor entity of the erstwhile APCPDCL (Central Power Distribution Company). The company serves approximately 1.3 crore consumer connections across 16 districts with its headquarters in Hyderabad.

The northern region of Telangana is served by TGNPDCL (Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited) with headquarters in Warangal. Together, the two DISCOMs cover all 33 districts of Telangana. TGSPDCL manages the distribution network from 33kV substations down to the consumer meter, covering approximately 1.9 lakh kilometres of distribution lines across its service area.

What is UKSCNO (Unique Service Connection Number)?

UKSCNO stands for Unique Service Connection Number — a 9-digit identifier assigned by TGSPDCL to every electricity consumer in their service area. This is the primary identifier used for all billing, payment, and service operations. It is different from the "Service Number" (alphanumeric, like A2015782) which is the older format. The UKSCNO is printed prominently on every electricity bill, usually at the top. You can also find it on the meter card attached to your electricity meter box. TGSPDCL vs TGNPDCL — Coverage Areas

Telangana's electricity distribution is split between two DISCOMs based on geography:

• TGSPDCL (Southern): Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Narayanpet. This is the larger DISCOM by consumer count due to Hyderabad being in its service area.
• TGNPDCL (Northern): Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagitial, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Mancherial, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally.

Understanding Your TGSPDCL Electricity Bill

A TGSPDCL electricity bill contains several components that determine the total payable amount:

• Energy Charges: Calculated based on the number of units (kWh) consumed during the billing period. The rate per unit depends on the consumer category (domestic, commercial, industrial) and the applicable slab.
• Fixed Charges: A flat monthly fee based on the sanctioned load (measured in kW or HP). This charge applies regardless of consumption.
• Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA): A variable charge adjusted quarterly to account for fluctuations in fuel prices used for power generation.
• Electricity Duty: A state government levy of 6% on the energy charges for domestic consumers and higher rates for commercial/industrial consumers.
• Customer Charges: A small fixed charge (Rs. 15-25 per month) for meter maintenance and billing costs.
• Arrears (if any): Outstanding balance from previous billing periods, plus any late payment surcharge of 1.5% per month.

Billing Cycle and Due Dates

TGSPDCL follows a bi-monthly billing cycle for most domestic consumers (bills are generated every two months). However, some areas and commercial/industrial consumers may have monthly billing. The billing date and due date are printed on every bill. Typically, the due date is 15 to 20 days from the bill date. Late payment attracts a surcharge of 1.5% per month on the outstanding amount. If bills remain unpaid for more than 3 months, TGSPDCL can disconnect the electricity supply after issuing a notice.

Solar Rooftop Net Metering

TGSPDCL actively promotes solar rooftop installations under the Telangana Solar Policy and the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
